25TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY OF AKWA IBOM STATE POLYTECHNIC, IKOT OSURUA, IKOT EKPENE, AKS.

Today, over 3000 students took the Matriculation Oath for the 2019/2020 Academic Session during the 25th Matriculation Ceremony of the State Polytechnic held at the school arena.

Speaking at the Ceremony, The Rector, Dr. Moses Umobong, who congratulated the students for scaling through the rigorous selection process for admission into the institution, disclosed that the institution remains committed to its vision/mission of producing graduates adequately equipped to handle contemporary socio-economic and environmental challenges through cutting edge research in Science, Technology and Humanities, driven by Information and Communication Technology. He stressed that the school remains true to its core values of academic excellence and integrity, accountability, high standards of morals and ethical behaviour, and fairness in all relationship with students and staff.

Hon. Commissioner for Education, Prof Nse Udo Essien, who spoke through his representative, Mrs Helen Ante (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education) called on students to always remain committed to the matriculation oath they have all sworn. He further admonished them to always remain passionate about their studies while focusing on their set goals in life. The commissioner charged all the matriculating students to be good ambassadors of the school and the State. He advised them to always think and act as entrepreneurs and problem solvers.

The Special Assitant to the Governor on Student Matters, Comrade Akwaowo Clifford, in his remark reminded the students of the commitment of Governor Udom led administration in providing conducive and enabling environment for their studies as well as modern facilities and infrastructure. He urged students to shun cultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism and all other forms of social vices, stressing that the achievement of academic success is anchored on hard work, determination and discipline.
